Wheel fitment with a 295 tire?
I'm used to the 60-66 world but I recently picked up an 87 short wide and want to buy some wheels for it. I have a new pair of 295/40/18 rear tires. I also have some 20" tires.
I'm looking at doing 18x9 front and 18x10 in the rear or 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear. Does anyone know what backspacing I need to make this happen? Stock leaf springs with 2" shackles and will be dropped 1" in the front. I looked for a wheel thread on here but didn't see one. Thanks!

Re: Wheel fitment with a 295 tire?
I might be able to help you. I have ran a 20x10 with a 285/50/20 with a 5.75 backspace with plenty of clearance. I had about 1" of clearance from the bulge of the tire to outer bedside. So I think with a 295 tire a 5.5 backspace would be perfect. This is the same setup I'm running on my current truck.

Re: Wheel fitment with a 295 tire?
Thanks Ultrahd4me! That helps. So in offset that equates to a 20x10 with a +6 so I could probably safely go -/+ around 6mm. Do you remember the details on the backspacing and tire size on the front?

Re: Wheel fitment with a 295 tire?
You should have plenty of room for that size at such a mild drop. I'm running 295/45/20s on mine and still have room with it aired out up into the notch. 5" backspace on the front on a 8" wide and 5.5" on the rear for either 9.5 or 10 wide should work. That should be pretty much the standard size for most any wheel you could want.
