has anbody done this???
let me try to explain. I bought a running driving but damaged 2006 Silverado with a salvage title. 5.3 engine with automatic. got it to swap engine into a 72 Cheyenne super lwb that I also plan to have shortened.called several shops tha specialize in ls swaps. one shop told me he could put the 72 sheetmetal on the 2006 frame and make it run and drive like a 2006 . I have never seen this myself but he claims to have done 2 of them I can come see. has anybody done or seen a truck like this?

Re: has anbody done this???
I haven't seen it done with a 2006 but I saw one done on a 98 or 99 chassis. I've been looking for a link, but I can't find it. In that truck they used the firewall and dash from the newer vehicle and grafted the cab of the 67-72 onto it. As I remember it turned out looking pretty good.
In your case, I would definitely want to see what they had done and look it over very carefully to see if you'd be happy with the finished product.

Looks like a similar project but the yr models of the donors don't match. Good info either way.

Re: has anbody done this???
thanks for the links. I knew someone had to attempt something similar. I know I would never attempt this on my own I am 65 now and would be 165 before I finished. I will go to see his work after Christmas and will get some pictures and more info. if anyone has any questions they would like me to ask let me know.this may never happen but I will follow up on it.

There is a guy on here that was doing this exact thing with a short bed. Use the search feature in this forum and the build threads forum.

Re: has anbody done this???
I rebuild 99-07 trucks as my main thing in my shop along with building 67-72's.I have done a good bit of measuring and whatnot cause I was thinking about grafting the front suspension from a 2004 into one of my 68's that I had thought of making into a shop truck type thing. The track width is right but the wheelbases are quite different. There was one guy on here used a Tahoe to put his body on but the truck is a lot longer. I thought the idea of frame graft was a good one but lots of guys here drug me over the coals. I might still try it but that truck is still on the waiting list and I have plenty of short frames.

Re: has anbody done this???
The cost of something like this would deter me. Even if I could do all the work, which I probably can, it would be an enormous undertaking.
