Exhaust question
Hey Everyone,
I have a 71 c10 shortbed conversion with a 4/6 static drop which I have been working on for a few years now. Leaf spring truck. I would love to keep the exhaust between the frame rails and run a 2.5 inch dual exhaust with a x-pipe or h-pipe out the back. I have the Sanderson cc10 headers which others here have used in a similar application. I am planning on cutting out holes in my crossmember. Does anyone know of an exhaust kit that would accomplish this or will I need to buy pieces individually and fit it all together? I would really appreciate any input from others who have already slayed this. Thanks |

Re: Exhaust question
I don’t know of any off the shelf kits that would do this. I would look for a reputable shop to do this. I had a shop run the same thing with an H pipe and spin tech mufflers for my 72.

Re: Exhaust question
You will have to have it fitted. I talked to a local shop about doing mine and as soon as the big block swap is completed, that’s where it is headed. My truck is a 4.5”/7” dropped leaf spring truck. The rear is a DJM flip kit. I have already cutout my crossmember and welded in 4” pipe “rings” to reinforce the area. I plan on running 2 1/2” all the way out the back. I bought a set of (EXPENSIVE!) Sanderson coated cast iron big block manifolds and will run Dynomax Hemi Turbo mufflers. Pipe out the back probably at a 45 behind rear tires.
It is TIGHT over the axle to the bed but he said “No problem”. And they have been doing work for me for 30 years (?!) so I know what he says is so.

Re: Exhaust question
do as Mike said and you will have no problem. i've been doing exhaust in the same shop since 1985 and have done several of our trucks like he said, it's tight over the axle but with a leaf spring truck there's plenty of room as long as you don't go bigger than 2 1/2" pipe.
