Anyone ever seen the 427 version of this decal?

This is the 396 valve cover decal, I need the 427 version of it for some weird Pontiac application where they put it over the Tonawanda sticker. But they share the same decals with trucks!

Anyone seen one?

That's a different one. I need the 427 version of the 396 one I posted. I can dig up the GM part number but I doubt that'd help!

Here is a link to the Pontiac 427 story that was in HotRod Magazine Oct 1970. The photo of the mag cover may be showing the decal you are looking for...

http://www.wallaceracing.com/hemi-4.html

BUT, if it never went into production, the decals didn't either. You might just have to have a print shop or car wrap shop do one up custom.

Re: Anyone ever seen the 427 version of this decal?

no pontiac in canada had a pontiac v 8. they all had chevy small block. big blocks and six's since the mid 50's. if you wanted a real pontiac engin in your canadian car, say... a GTO, your dealer would have to go south to get one. not uncommon. full size canadian models had the 427's.

American pontiacs from the early sixties had the 421's and in 67 they went up to 428's., in 70 they went with a 455.

GMC's are another story.

Re: Anyone ever seen the 427 version of this decal?

That 427 HEMI would have been a screamer! It's duel overhead cam design is the same design Kawasaki used in 1972 when the Z1 inline four took the world by storm. My 1980 KZ-1000 has the same Z1 design, twin OH cams, solid lifters, and "Hemi"spherical heads...

Re: Anyone ever seen the 427 version of this decal?

When the Ram Air IV which cost a BAJILLION dollars was only cranking out 366hp south of the border, if you knew what you were doing, you could get the 390hp motor in Canada.

Down in the US you could get the 428/390 but that car weighs about 600lbs more than the lighter Canadian B-Body.

Here's my Pontiac 427 at the moment (actually it's at the machine shop right now). Not pretty. But it's orange like all good Pontiacs!
