Finishing my crate engine questions

The literature says I need a (left) side oil dipstick tube, and gives a Chevrolet Performance number (03876870), but when I plug it in at any Chevy site I get nothing. Any reason not to buy from Classic?

Is the oil filter adapter removable from my old 350, or is it cast into the block?

Re: Finishing my crate engine questions

Any dipstick tube will work....most come with a dipstick. I did not want a chrome one and it took me awhile to find one that was not chrome. I also kept the original dipstick as I did not like the cheap appearance of the new one. The oil filter adapter should unbolt from the old block.

I don't want chrome either. The confusion comes from the paperwork from Chevrolet Performance that shows different parts and numbers for right side or left side dipsticks. I will see if I can remove the original as well as the oil filter adapter. Thanks

the steel plug that comes with your crate engine to plug the hole you arent going to use i found to be useless, i took a bolt the right size cut off the threads so that i had about an inch of smooth bolt with the head on it and then used gasket sealer on it and put it in the hole on the passenger side, no way it can fall down into the engine...
