Rear sport bumper install
I just bought the rear sport bumper kit with brackets and was needing pics of how they are installed. Looks like I will only be able to get 1 bolt in each side? Is that correct? Also how do the dust shields install? Thanks

Re: Rear sport bumper install
I don't get it. The original bumper mounts to brackets in four spots, one per bracket. If yours are different, a picture might help.

Re: Rear sport bumper install
On a Blazer, the inner bolts go through the back of the frame. Only the side bolts have the bracket and I think it does just have 1 bolt per side? The chassis I have in my driveway right now has a welded on bumper from some jackass so that won't help and I can't get to the back of my Jimmy right now because of so many parts from the project stacked behind it.

Re: Rear sport bumper install
try the pictues/diagrams in the lmc catalog. they cover truck and subirbans but the parts are labelled by the model in the parts lists.

It does not appear that the "dust shields," parts #16, 17 or 18, apply to the suburbans.

Re: Rear sport bumper install
Let me say first off I know little about your year of Blazer, but since everyone is mentioning Suburbans here is a photo of my Burban with the bumper off and the right side outer bracket missing. I have circled the left side bracket. With the two brackets and the tabs on the frame there are four points to bolt the bumper to the frame. I hope this helps.

I don't see where the OP mentions Blazer OR Suburban in his post. That is why it is important to state what vehicle you are working with when you start a new thread, even if it doesn't seem important to you. No such thing as posting too much information. It saves a lot of confusion..... LockDoc

I am needing to see a picture of one installed so I can get this figured out and can drill some more holes if needed.

For the short wheel base conversion 8" has to be cut off of the rear frame rails so I think the holes would have to be re-drilled. Some people get confused about this when modifying the frame and cut 12" off of the rear rails, making them too short. I don't have any pictures of that area but maybe someone else will..... LockDoc

Re: Rear sport bumper install
I recently did a shortbed conversion and also had to remount my bumper. It was a step bumper but same process. I redrilled the holes in the same relative spots they were on the 8" section I cut off. I figured I was good to go but when I tried mounting the bumper it just wouldn't line up quite right. I had to add some adjustment into the new holes to get the bumper in the right spot. I'm thinking you are going to need to either throw the bed back on now or wait until it's back on after paint to get the bumper just right, even if you do figure out where the holes are "supposed" to be.

Re: Rear sport bumper install
I recently shortened my truck as well. The holes that I was suppose to make were already there, which was surprising. I haven't installed a bumper yet though.
This is after 8" was taken off the back:

Re: Rear sport bumper install
I started the Blazer "fake news" because that was the picture in his avatar. As noted it is helpful to know what he is working on now!
