Jeep Wrangler Tank Mounting

I have my 88 Wrangler tank and a 92 S10 Sender that I think is going to work nicely (now and when I swap in an LS motor/EP381 fuel pump), but I have a question on mounting the tank. Are people mounting the tank below the frame rails or are they cutting into the support for the bed? I have removed the spare tire crossmember but it hits the bed support above the frame (perpendicular to frame rails). Thanks for any information and I will do a full write up as this seems like it will work on both carb and fuel injection motors with minimal change.
