Brake question with a likely easy answer
Sorry if this is obvious, but I'm looking at getting this brake booster, master cylinder, and proportioning valve. It's out of a 57 chevy with all discs...and while that is an upgrade I will likely make in the future, it's not currently in the cards or wallet. My question is will this setup work for discs on front and drums in the rear?
Thanks and again sorry if obvious, Josh |

Re: Brake question with a likely easy answer
Hi Josh. I am by no means an expert, but so far as I know, there are 2 different master cylinder, one for drums on back, and discs on front, and a different one for 4 wheel discs. The sizes of the reservoirs are different, so they are not interchangeable.

Re: Brake question with a likely easy answer
While it is true that a disc/drum master is different than a disc/disc master, the big aftermarket parts sellers sell the disc/disc master for the disc/drum applications, just with a different proportioning valve. Dep0ending on what you are going to have to pay for that setup, you may be able to get the correct parts at your local auto parts store and/or wrecking yard for the same or not much more.

Re: Brake question with a likely easy answer
Thanks for the feedback guys, i believe it's a good deal $125.00. I can most likely scrounge up the correct proportioning valve if needed and if all else fails I can swap the rear drums to discs because money grows on trees, or at least this truck thinks so

Re: Brake question with a likely easy answer
For when that time comes, I do make 5 different rear disc conversion bracket sets. Two for 6 lug and 3 for 5 lug. See the links in my sig line.

Absolutely, I have plans to get with you soon about a couple brackets. I'm looking for a power steering pump and bracket for a 250 inline 6...i just got the ps gearbox with my 73 cross member but I plan on keeping the manual steering until I locate or am forced to buy new.
