Rear bumper and license plate location
Anyone seen a rear bumper like this, and if so, where do I mount the license plate? I also don't see where there would be a light for it.
Any thoughts?? |

Re: Rear bumper and license plate location
Screw the plate to the bumper on one side, put the plate light beside it.

From the rust spot...
Probably left side, look for holes

I thought that might be the spot, but when I put it there, top half of plate is behind tailgate, and you can't see the sticker.

Re: Rear bumper and license plate location
On the face of the bumper, right below the green arrow.
My truck is similar, flat bumper, plate is screwed right to it. There used to be a hitch on the bumper, there are holes to one side where the PO had the plate on the side like yours needs to be. I run with no light. Last edited by jayoldschool; 03-25-2018 at 09:00 PM. |

Re: Rear bumper and license plate location
Seems your bumper may be situated a little too far in and a bit high. Most often, the upright flange on a step bumper is just outside of the rear cross sill. see pics. If the bumper is setting low enough, and close to the cross sill, a license plate will just barely fit there under the tailgate.

Re: Rear bumper and license plate location
thanks for the pics. I think i might just cut the bottom inch or so off my plate and mount it in that spot. I think that way, the state and tag will be visible. then I will see if I can mount some type of light next to it.

Re: Rear bumper and license plate location
oem4me,
Where did you get that rubber edging material that is between the ends of the bumper and the bed?

Yes, just thinking a bit off the bottom edge.
Funny you say that, that's where the previous owner had it taped. |
