292 Fuel Pump Replacement ?

Has anyone bought and used a 250/292 fuel pump that didn't have the tab riveted to the pump arm?
Every pump that I've ever used had the tab. I just bought a NAPA B0154P and a second pump they sell does not have the tab either. The NAPA pump has M4503 printed on it. Summit sells a Carter M4503 pump for the inline 250/292.
No flaps in the area has a pump in stock for me to buy or compare.

My concern is that the pump arm rides directly on the cam instead of a push rod like Chevy V engines. The tab appears to be a softer metal.

Re: 292 Fuel Pump Replacement ?

FWIW, just looked up a fuel pump for a '70 292 on Car Quest, one had the shoe, one did not. The one without the shoe was superceded to the one with. They are both the same price. I think I'd want the shoe but suppose either would work.

(P/N 40446 has the shoe)

Re: 292 Fuel Pump Replacement ?

I'm not sure what you are seeing. This is the picture I see for the 40446 and only one view. No tab or shoe as you call it. Thanks for looking. Their local store doesn't have it in stock.
At least CarQuest knows which end is up.

This is the pic I get with that P/N but the pics aren't always correct.

Re: 292 Fuel Pump Replacement ?

I recall those ''shoes'' on 292 fuel pumps.
