internal regulator alternator ?
Good Evening
1972 C10 got a couple questions about wiring for an internal voltage alternator, ive already got the alternator, it is on the passenger side as opposed to the original drivers side(79 el camino complete motor) heres the question ive seen 2 different ways to wire from the 4 pin clip to the original regulator 1st way is to jumper or splice the 1 and 4 wires ( brown and blue) together and run the blue wire to the #1 on the alternator, then to connect the red wire #2 off the clip to the #2 on the alternator with a new wire the original red wire that attached to the battery post on the alternator still goes to the same in both scenarios 2nd way ive seen is to run a jumper on the clip to the brown and the white(#1 to #3)and jumper the red wire to the blue wire (#2 to #4) and then run the white\brown wire to term #1 on the alternator and run the blue\red wire to term #2 on the alternator i do have a guage dash, not lights if thats a concern which is the best way ? just dont want to burn anything up appreciate the responses Thanks

Re: internal regulator alternator ?
If you read your description you'll realize that both ways are the same, the only difference is the color of the wire that goes to no. 1 and no.2. on the alternator
You are still connecting the brown wire to no.1 and the red wire to no.2. I have mine on the passenger side also and here's how I did it. I bought an adapter from Autozone to plug into the alternator that looks like this. I don't remember if I had to swap the red and brown wires in the plug to match, but I don't think I did. Some guys on the internet tell us to wire the red in a short loop from no.2 to the back of the wire on the alternator where the large red wire goes. It will work but it doesn't compensate for voltage drops downstream from the alternator and increase it's output accordingly. This is how mine looks. I re-clocked the alternator so that the plug was on the bottom for a cleaner look.

Re: internal regulator alternator ?
You can also buy the premade kit to do away with the regulator from Lmc. I went that route. No problems so far.
