Brake Problems

Hey all have a question about my brakes. Have a 1969 C2500 with brake booster equipment. When I try using the brakes the pedal goes down to the wall. The brake cylinder doesn't leak fluid and stays full. Bled brakes didn't get any air when bleeding. May have messed up when I bled the only thing I can think of since I have no fluid lose. Any ideas.

Re: Brake Problems

sounds like a bad master cylinder. It doesn't have to leak to be bad.

Your plunger in mast cylinder needs rebuilt, used to be able buy a kit. I have a good power brake master cylinder, from 70 c-10 I will let you have for $25, plus shipping... I replaced with chrome.

Re: Brake Problems

Take the brake lines off the master and get some brass plugs to block the ports. Pump the brake and if the pedal fades the master is bad.

Re: Brake Problems

Your master cylinder is bypassing. If it is old, just replace it, so that you don't have to deal with a pitted bore.
