Help with VIN

Vin is CS14A136322 suppose to be a 1968 Chevy Step Side Truck
Can someone decipher the numbers. Tried Vin lookup on this site but makes no sense to me.

That's because you're missing a digit in position # five. The ''8'' for 1968.
My '68 C/10 Stepside w/292 L6 is numbered CS148Z123XXX.
So that's
C = ''Conventional" [2wd].
S = L6 [M for V6, E for V8]
1 = Half Ton
4 = Stepside
8 = 1968
A = Janesville Plant [Z = Fremont]
136 etc. = sequential number on your truck. [The 1 here is given, so VIN numbers start after that.]

If the 8 is missing from the VIN plate, we'd sure like to see a pic of it.

Just try informing them that their typoneese translator software has a glitch and show them a picture of the VIN tag... then ask for a senior supervisor to correct the mistake and issue a new tittle - back dated to their original mistake.

Yeah, figures. The good ol' boys at AZ MVD had my '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500 down on the registration as a '71 Chevy 2 Door Station Wagon. I didn't mind the 2DSW as it's in a lower tax bracket than it would be as an SUV. [Even though the K/5 Blazer--K/1500 Jimmy was the 1st Gen of SUV] I was finally able to get it changed back to GMC when I went in for an emissions test in Phoenix [state capitol]. My 350 w/hedders and Carter AFB flunked Maricopa County emission standards, but at least the guy could find the right teletype to change the Make in registration. Passing smog tests in Pima County [Tucson] is a little easier, but I always had to go way lean on the carb set-up for passing. Now it's exempt as a Collector Car with vintage Year of Manufacture plates.
Allstate was amazed that I could decipher VIN codes for old GM trucks. All I had was the LMC catalog. GMC VINs are sort of different. There is a - (dash) in one space that is only filled in when the truck has special Pennsylvania equipment. [Whatever that is?]. GMC also used letters to designate year. Z = 1970, but not always. It gets complicated.
Anyway Allstate still lists my half-ton Stepide as a ''CHEV C/1 Pickup.'' They can't spare the ink to call it a "C/10". That would break the corporate bank's back.
