Radiator Question

Hello, I bought a 1969 Chevrolet C-10 for restoration. But, right now I need to get it running reliable for a short time while I get another truck painted. Found out it has a 1979 350 engine in place of the 1969 original 350. Is automatic without air. Question is the original style radiators are quite different. 1969 is a little smaller core size but is 3 rows.....1979 little bit bigger core size but is only 2 rows. Measurements courtesy of LMC trucks. Plus, the 1979 does not fit very well in the truck. I want it to cool properly and fit the way it should. Can I go back to the 1969 style radiator with a 1979 350 engine. Engine is not anything special and not modified. Pretty standard plain corporate 350.

Thank you.

Re: Radiator Question

The 69 radiator will cool off the engine without any issues if it is clean and has a shroud. No real difference in the factory engines. Still a 350

Re: Radiator Question

Thank You for the info. I will be buying a new shroud....the previous owner hacked up the install on the shroud it had.

Re: Radiator Question

Besides the above good advice, also get an OEM-style 7-blade 18" fan on a heavy duty (finned face) fan clutch.
