What do I have to do to fit a van tilt in?

I just got ahold of a van tilt, I think out of an 80 something van.

What modifications are required to fit it in a '72? I haven't pulled out the old one (which is a van non-tilt, go figure).

I know lots of you guys have done it, anyone have hints, tips, or instructions on what I need to do?

from memory(i have not done this) but I thought you had to pop our a rivet or something and then shorten the shaft. This is all I got, sorry dude, maybe someone else can get into more detail.

Since the modification has allready been done shouldn't be any problem . Is the truck auto or stick ? Here is a link to a post on van tilts mods .

Be sure and shorten the shaft, instead of just collapsing it. You don't want it coming through your chest in a crash. Also, if using the nuetral safety switch, you will need to modify the column to accept it about 8" lower
