Cheyenne Super Anomaly
This Cheyenne Super is on EBay and it looks great. Looking it over I see that theglove box door has black trim around it and with the chrome band. Now I have a bunch of original Cheyenne Super pics and everyone I have shows the glove box door to be the same color as the dash with the chrome band. As you can see even the inside of the glove box door is black not red like I'm thinking it should be and the spid looks original not a repro. I believe the seller is legit and he says in the description that the spid serial number matches the door jamb plate. Its a St. Louis build is that has anything to do with it. am I just too picky cause I think the black around the glove box door spoils the look of the interior.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
SPID says side mounted wheel? So does it mean it is not an original fleetside bed but maybe a stepside with the wheel mounted on the side?

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
For $32,500, I’d be just as picky. That’s a wad of cash to put out if things don’t meet your expectations.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
I think that's the in bed spare holder. I can't read it, but wht does the model number say?
It's not unusual for the glovebox door to be black on Cheyenne Supers. I don't know the rhyme or reason why matching or black. With the black carpet, tilt, dash pad the black doesn't ruin it for me. I prefer the matching of the two. But my anal thing for years has been chrome glovebox door w/woodgrain to match cluster totally. I just swap the original while the truck is in my hands.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
From my wife - resident Ebay guru...
Buy it now is $32,500 Contact the buyer, and offer him $29,000 (or whatever you'd be comfortable & happy at) if he'll adjust the price and accept your offer. She often does this to get something before bidding goes above reserve - which it could do. No, not any friend of the seller, or anything like that, just offering .02 if your serious - and try and save you some green... Good luck! Mike

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
Yes, it is a well known fact that some plants painted their Cheyenne Super glovebox lids black. I believe we had a discussion on this about 10 years ago on this board. That and also parchment interiors getting black accents when purchased with a tilt wheel option.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
My Flint built orange and parchment Super has a black OEM gb door and black dash pad with black steering column. I've seen others in orange and ochre.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
yes, gb door legit, but the instrument bezel is incorrect (but easily remedied) - it should be woodgrain also. To me, however, $32K range means bone stock unrestored or correctly restored, not semi-resto-mod. The gas filler door is done nicely, but that, and some of the stuff brings it below $32K in my mind. Then again, it is a real super swb in probably the most iconic color combo for a 72 - WITH tach and AM/FM (originally). Maybe $32K at Barrett Jacksuptheprice, but... Oh crap, I can't afford it anyway, so it just doesn't matter! Ha. Nice truck, would love to own it.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
The glove box door on my 72 Super is dark blue, which is the color on top of the cab. It's a 558 paint code, so the rest is medium blue. I suppose someone could have painted the glove box, but I doubt it.
For what it's worth, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the base interior color always the primary color (aka body color) from factory? Only reason I ask is someone repainted the interior on my Super, lots of runs. It's the right color, medium blue, or so it would seem.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
I was so focused on the glovebox I never noticed the cluster was replaced. But on the '72 Hugger Cheyenne Supers, the K/20 from Freemont I had with parchment, tilt, and A/C had a Hugger Orange glovebox door, black vents and dash pad. I've never had a Cheyenne Super with black glovebox door and never noticed any with until I came here. Funny it seems the norm to have black.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
What amazes me about our hobby with these trucks is that there are no absolutes and after 15 years on this site I'm constantly still learning new stuff about the trucks. Thanks for your input everyone.

It's real here are the door jam vin and frame vin pictures . I didn't know the glove box came in different colors . Learn something new everyday . I don't know about anyone else but For that kind of money on any truck NOT JUST THIS ONE I'd expect perfect bodywork .Just my own opinion .

And yes the SPID matches up to the truck. Cool combo. Dark blue top and glove box lid. Everything else medium blue.

Re: Cheyenne Super Anomaly
That's really cool. I agree, definitely original. So, the burning question is: you mentioned your interior was repainted (just not the gb door obviously) - since I can't look at your gb door and roof simultaneously - do they seem to be a match? Or is it possible that the interior repaint was too light of a medium blue and gives the illusion that the gb door matches the roof just because it's darker than the surrounding interior. From where I'm sitting - the gb door absolutely looks original - and very much looks like DARK blue, not medium. That's cool - and a new one on me, thanks for sharing!
