Kick Panel Speaker Ideas
Id Like To Put Some Speakers In The Kick Panel Area of My 70 c10. Anyone do Something Different Than Buying The After market ones.
Might Modify My Ebrake To Move It To The Right Side More To Get Some Bigger Speakers In There If i Have To. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Kick Panel Speaker Ideas
I made my own. Wood construction, covered in fiberglass, then body worked and painted body color. I also deleted my emergency brake and moved my high beam switch a little so they would fit.

Re: Kick Panel Speaker Ideas
Believe it or not, I used Heavy duty Vecro to hold them in place. Works great.

Atomic Armadillo Metal Fab I follow them on Instagram. Small business handmade in Wisconsin. Some other cool custom bits available by them and reasonable prices considering the skill and work involved.

Re: Kick Panel Speaker Ideas
I went to tractor supply and bought small metal buckets with the bottom just a little wider than the speaker diameter. Used tin snips and cut slits down the sides of the buckets and carefully bent them at 90 degrees and got the buckets to be tilted up at me. Mounted to a 3/4" mdf board and cut the bottom out of the bucket, leaving a mounting flange behind. Bought a gallon of body filler from evercoat (on going special for years for $20.00) and moulded in the tin buckets to the mdf board because i haven't done a job in fiberglass yet. Sanded and painted to match the truck, put a little fiberfill inside the hole before i installed the speaker.
I angled the speakers so the p/s is pointed at my face and the d/s panel is angled to passenger face. Both the fiberfill and the weight and mass of the body filler and mdf help with the bass notes. Used the speaker hole to hide the mounting screws. |
