1972 GMC Long bed lowering problem
I lowered my 72 GMC longbed 3 inches front and back. Used blocks and 4 degree shim on rear. I am hearing a chirping sound from I believe the carrier bearing. Rear driveshaft is tight against bearing. Should I soften the shaft and if so how much?

Re: 1972 GMC Long bed lowering problem
A 3 inch block is to much in my opinion. Blocks move the rear forward (on trailing arms) and I assume that is what you have since the shaft is binding up. You can cut it but the best way to do this would be a set of 3" springs. 4 degrees is a lot for just a three inch drop. Have you checked the u-joint angles?

Re: 1972 GMC Long bed lowering problem
I will look into buying springs and getting rid of the blocks. Seems like the springs will push things forward as well to some degree.
