go to www.customaudiosound.com or check out this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...hlight=kenwood I had the kenwood at one time and it sounded decent. As far as 6X9s I am not sure do a search for 6X9 and see if anyone has done it.

You could do a underseat or glovebox set up, alot of head units you can get remotes for too.

This is a subject that just never ends! Many different dual shaft knob units will fit. If they are a little small, an oversize faceplace can be made from sheetmetal that goes behind the radios faceplate. I did this for a few years, then hacked away! I have not regretted that for a minute. But as far as speakers, I cut my door PANELS and not the bottom of the door. This also requires holes in the door behind the panel, but to return to stock only requires replacing the panel. It also sounds awesome. I have 4" separates in the door panels with their crossovers mounted on the kick panels, a 10" free air sub under the passengers side of the seat in a "box"(the back is open to the floor), a crossfire 4x100 bridged 2x100 1x200, and an Alpine 6 disc changer. This is very unobtrusive and sound is excellent. I have a stack of old Alpine DIN style pullout head units. I can swap from one to the other and leave them in the house if my vehicle will be outside overnight. Also handy since my boat has the same sleeve, no need to leave the stereo in the truck at the ramp!

stereo
thanks mike c , I am leaning towards cutting dash but not doors too. I dont need a killer stereo just enough to sound nice, that has easy to use buttons, I like Alpine stuff, and will probably go that route, would like to get away with one set of speakers for now, do you think I can 6 1/2s in the door panel below window crank? anyone?

I have mine in the center consol along with my changer. I use the on/ off knob on the AM radio to switch on the power to the whole system. Works great.

Check out www.roddoors.com They have all sorts of options for mounting stereos and speakers in 67-72 Chevy Trucks. I've purchased stuff from them and have been very satisfied.

I don't think 6 1/2's will work. Even the lowest profile. Because the speaker actually goes in a part of the door where the window is. You just have to pull a panel and approximate its location. The grill needs to clear the window crank handle as well, but the tweeter does not since it is flush mounted. I slightly tweaked my window cranks as well for more clearance.

This is my setup. A Panasonic cd player, two ADI 6 inch subs in ported boxes, a Kenwood 4 channel amp with Kenwood components, I did cut my dash and my doors, but it's my truck and will always be mine till I die so I didnt care If are not interested in cutting a hole in your dash I do have a few shaft cassette players, with digital tuners, preouts and a couple with auxilary ins, so you can plug a cd player in or run a RF mod cd changer, PM me if interested
