Blew something Up
So I accidentally contacted the positive terminal of the battery with the negative cable and the sparks flew. Now the starter is not responding as if I had no starter at all. Still have head lights wipers etc..Any thought or suggestions to fix would greatly appreciated .
Thanks |

Re: Blew something Up
Yes, I checked the fuse panel and my truck does not have a fusible link to the starter.
Thought I would try by passing the ignition with my remote our button starter at the starter/relay. |

Re: Blew something Up
The fusable link is in the engine bay on the pass side fender between the terminal block and positive post. It would kill the whole truck if it burns in two and is still wired factory. Did you cross the post on the battery itself, and not thru the truck's wiring? Might have burnt up the start portion of the ignition switch. Have a helper hold the key in start and check for 12v on the purple wire at the starter.

Re: Blew something Up
Yes I did contact the positive post with the negative.we managed to jump the starter with the key on and got it going. So it may be a fusible link that went. Thanks for your suggestion on the purple wire. I will follow up. Thanks again

Re: Blew something Up
Have your Alternator and EVR checked out. You may have burned out diodes, in addition to your starter gripe.

Re: Blew something Up
Yeah. sorry. External Voltage Regulator.
I have to replace them so often these days, that we're on a first initial basis. The chinee ones don't live long.
