Suburbans First Car Show
After owning the Suburban for 10 years without actually driving it (time flies) it was a great feeling of accomplishment to get it road worthy and take it to its first show.
It drew a big crowd all day and got a ton of compliments including the usual "you welded up the drivers rear door?! ![]() It drives really well the lift I went with makes it ride nice and smooth, it stops well and the original 327 engine somehow makes good power and doesn't seem to even leak anywhere. the SM465 has taken some getting used to but now I catch myself shifting my daily driver truck into second at a stop then correcting myself. the plans going forward are to continue to fix and improve things to improve drivability. Ideally I would like to drive the Suburban around town for now (the vast majority of my driving these days) eventually getting it fit and safe enough for longer trips and to take the whole family in. Thanks to all the help and encouragement over the years especially Josh (site owner) and Vectorit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Suburbans First Car Show
Your lift looks just right! Getting out and enjoying ones projects is good for the soul. You have gotten me excited about going to PIR tomorrow for the beaches show. Looks like junior is imprinting on the GMC. I checked out your Lemans. Looks good! I do like those in white ( Going to paint my GTO white when I get that far). I also vote to keep the Poncho power planr. Lots of us old geezers think that Pontiac actually died in 1979 and everything afterwards was in a car in a coma.

Looks like a great family outing! What lift did you go with? The one in my 70 is as stiff as it gets

He loves the truck and kept pulling the horn button off haha I got video of it on my Instagram. Thanks the Pontiac is a fun one and Pontiac people sure HATE LS swaps. The 350 in it runs great so it will be left alone as I have learned to keep well enough alone.

Re: Suburbans First Car Show
X2!
And x2 on how family friendly Suburbans are! The whole family fits comfortably yet can still accomplish 80% of what i would need a pick up for. When the other 20% comes up, I leash up to my old trailer.

Re: Suburbans First Car Show
Don't you just have to laugh at some of the comments about our "three-doors" you overhear at show 'n shines.
I was just thinking how our two Burbs would look side-by-side at a car show. (Lowered and Lifted) And hey, I can tell that little guy of yours is going to be a car guy. He already knows how to take them apart.

Great that you made your goal and the whole family got to enjoy it with you. Wish I could have stayed in Monterey longer that week and seen your truck, maybe next year!
