door skin thickness
can somebody tell me the gauge thickness of stock gm door skins. I,ve got to make a patch. thanks

18 ga. is correct for sheet metal patching.

18 gage.
It is about 50 thousandths of an inch thick.0.0478 is the spec.

18, Ga. .0478 Carbon steel is what would be used as the norm for our trucks today to repair damage our rust .
But you asked what is the Gauge of your stock GM door skin , if its a original Gm door skin it would be 19 ga. .0418 carbon steel . Gm used a basterd thickness of 19 gauge witch would be very hard to find these days ,So 18 ga. is the choice by most . |
