65 Fleetside

Hello all,

Introducing myself and kicking off the rebuild of my grandpa's 65 Fleetside SB C10. It has been in our family since 1969. He drove it into the 80's and I got it from him in 1989. Started life as a 3 on the tree, with a 283. I swapped the three for a sm420 and drove it from Rapid City, SD back to Augusta, Ga pulling a 69 Bronco on 36's. Stopped every 100 miles to fill the tank. It is now getting a warmed up 350/350 combo and the 3/5 drop treatment. No more trailer hitches for her now. Will look for some complete pics of before the tear down but this will have to do for now.

Re: 65 Fleetside

We rented a U-haul trailer. Had to pick up the trailer with the wifes 84 bronco, they told me at uhaul the 65 wasn't enough truck to pull the trailer with the 69 on it. Only place I had a problem was the interstate coming into Chattanooga Tenn. 2 am I took up all three lanes.

Ahhhh! Augusta Ga! Fort Gordon! I remember it well!

That’s an awesome truck, love that it’s been in your family that long also. Must have been a memorable drive for everyone, even the fellow travelers
