Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
hello, I'm looking for original fenton headers for my chevy 235.
I understand these might be unobtainium, or just a super high price. and i know there are repops. but everything on my truck is original so I'm trying to keep it that way. does anyone have one for sale or have a site that has old stuff in stock? thanks |

Does it have to be Fenton or will the old corvette style work? For me that is way more Nostalgic

Re: Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
I'd say swap meets within a 4 or 5 hours driving time. Sometimes if you want a certain thing you have to be willing to take the time and make the effort to go look for it.
Personally if you set a pair of originals and a pair of the new production ones on a table and both had been run and had rust on them I would be real hard pressed to tell you which was which. That means you had better be willing to do your homework before hand if you haven't done so already.

Re: Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
You can kinda see the Fentons on motor in this shot. I will have to make a little "topper" where the stock intake bolted to it, and I plan on grinding off the "Fenton" as this is "stock" truck theme.

How do you tell the difference? What are the dates of the originals?

The "theme" is a GM Motorama "concept car" like the Corvette was before it was a production car. This video gives you an idea of what a "Motorama" was, GM had 4 across the country each year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRmlDhaiYJc My "Theme" is Harley Earl brought his AD down to the design studio and had them "dress it up," making the first "Cameo" if you will. Which is not of the question, Harley brought his son's Corvette race car in there and the SR-2 Corvette was born. No, it's a "stock" truck, at least in my head. Brian

Re: Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
Man, I had forgotten about my headers, mine don't have the intake mount, it's the intake I need to make a cover for. I got these headers about 10 years ago, don't know if the same ones are available.

Re: Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
I was at an auction a few years ago, a Seized up 235 with an Offy intake and GM split exhaust went for 1200 bucks. The exhaust was also cracked. The vintage speed stuff is hot right now, good luck finding anything.
Speedway sells Fenton headers and Tom Langdon sells Williams. Both of them are re-cast, but I’ve heard good things about them. The castings are probably better than original. |

Re: Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
That's why I went with the Fentons, I would have loved to use the Corvette "headers" but no way. I did get the intake, an NOS one even, for only $300. I have a PILE of NOS stuff for the motor, distributor, generator, all kinds of stuff.

Re: Chevy 235 Fenton headers. how to obtain?
I saw a complete 6 cylinder Corvette carb and intake and exhaust setup at a swapmeet a few years ago and the price was more than the car sold for new for just those pieces.
The seller only had Corvette pieces in his booth and my thought was he had the price jacked up to keep the peasants from wanting to buy it for a non Corvette setup.
