Power and Rear End Ratios
I'm OK with engines, I can do basic stuff with transmissions, but rear differentials are still a mystery to me.
I want to do about 400 horsepower and run an TH700-R4 (or a different GM overdrive?) transmission. I'm not a racer, but lets face it, I like horsepower. What is the best rear end ratio to go with? In which vehicle can I find a 5 bolt rear end that will work in my truck?

I've always 3:73s with the od trannies, but it really depends on a ton of variables.
What do want the truck to do? What size tires will you be running?

I agree with DoubleBit, 3.73 would be a good all around ratio. If you do more pulling/hauling/in town driving, a 4.10 would be a better choice.
