Hi guys,

Just sharing the latest needed fix to our '65 C10 stepside. So many errors done to it by the former owner/s. One of the changes was a conversion to front disk brakes. It appears that all parts were obtained from a 1970's GM system: M.C., proportioning valve, spindles with calipers and rotors, rubber lines, etc.
The hard lines to the front and rear brakes are plumbed wrong. Although the M.C. front larger bowl is feeding the front port to the valve, the outport is plumbed to the rear brakes and visa versa.
Here in lies my question. Have not ripped down any lines yet. Correct me when I'm wrong. The front outport on bottom of the valve appears to be a 3/8 -24 fitting? Is that GM standard?
The rear outport ( out the back of the valve) , is larger. Is it a 7/16-24 fitting or a 9/16-18 fitting? When I know I'll get an adapter to accept new 3/16 line with 3/8-24 fittings. Hope I'm on the right track!

I don't know the answer to your question, but as a person that's been an old car/truck enthusiast for a long time I can tell you that hafazz, botched and ineffective repair jobs by the previous owner ( PO) is a common complaint.
Very frustrating.

On my truck I gave up on trying to repair the PO's mistakes. Now I just junk what he did and Start all over. That way I know it was done and done right. This might be more expensive but atleast I know what I have and how it works.

Yeah Indian, that appears what I've done so far on other issues with this truck.

Hack jobs are the bane of all 2nd 3rd etc owners. Even my one owner 2005 with 83,000 miles had some doozies. Mechanics wire should be outlawed...

Mine was an "Original" 66 C10 BBW with a 327 cu in.....Only by the Grace of the good Lord I decided to change the front and rear seal because it was leaking......Found a broke main bolt, found that the motor was half way rebuilt...dropped the crank and put new rings etc....problem was they didn't clean up the cylinder walls. I ended up having to have the motor rebuilt and had to add a sleeve in one cylinder because it was was out and I didn't want to bore it .60 over.

People buying these things and reselling them as a one or two owner vehicle trying to get premium money....But Like I have always said...As long as my heart is in the right place Im good.....Karma tends to come back and haunt some.

Bought mine with a 327 from a 66 vette. It started and ran when i went to purchase. After digging into it i found out the block was cracked. You sorta have to have thick skin sometimes on these projects. However, I have met some great people along the way and swapped some good stories during the rebuild (still in progress) and that makes up for the greedy evil doers.
