donor engine choices

Hi guys,

I have tried to search this but can't get the search wording to get me what I need. Which is...........in reading here about putting an LS in my 51, what would be the best donor as far as oil pan/front accessory drive? Or does everyone get the engine they want and then swap in what is needed? Seems the correct choice to start would be simpler and cheaper, but I have no clue on how this is supposed to work!

I guess I need guidance on what the actual requirements areas far as oil pan and anything else that is a swap problem.

Anyway any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: donor engine choices

Lots of LS swaps into the AD trucks...
Most people start with a truck engine and go from there...mkat truck engine setups are the same..
Acc drives are a issue with some people using the Holley drive setup..
oil pans will depend alot on what else your using and how low your riding ...you'll have to clear the axles/crossmember....and the ground ...one of the shallowest pans you can get is for the c6 vett.....
Best thing is get a engine and go from there..modify or swap whatever becomes a issue
