Frame dimensions and fitment thread
I was doing a little searching for some frame dimensions, if you look hard enough you can find almost everything you need. Its just very time consuming.
Would be great to have short and long boxes, also by years because I know there are some differences year to year. Also 4x4 short and long. Burbs too in all categories. I don't know that 3/4 ton versions are any different except maybe frame thickness, I don't think Ive ever read a definitive answer on that one. So I was hoping that if any of you fellas that have those factory frame diagrams could you please post them here. It would be nice if a person did a search on frames an all encompassing thread would pop up just to make life a little easier ... Thanks guys, I hope this thread turns in to a useful tool. |

Re: Frame dimensions and fitment thread
I bought a 69 Chevy Truck Shop and Overhaul Service Manual on a CD and I think it has what you are looking for. In the 69 Chevy Truck Chassis Service Manual, Frame Section Chapter 2, has all the dimensions for series 10 thru 60. I think I bought it from Classic Parts of America, and they have them for all 6 years classes. $25.00. Along with this forum, they have been very useful for me. I tried to copy a page or 2 from it for you to see, but unsuccessful, at this point. LMC also has them.

Re: Frame dimensions and fitment thread
I know you were asking to put it in one thread, but if you go to the GM Heritage Center page for trucks, you can find all of that plus the specs for everything under the sun on these trucks plus GM’s autos. It helped me a bunch especially when translating the engine that came in mine since it wasn’t the original.

Re: Frame dimensions and fitment thread
Getter-Done, it was especially helpful when I found out about it on an old thread here. My original motor was replaced by some PO and by digging through the engine number I was able to determine what model car it came out of. Then I backtracked through the GM site to find out the specs for the 1972 Chevelle it came out of. Plus there are all kind of specs for things like maintenance, dimensions, engine, drivetrain and everything you want to know/not know.

I think a side and top view like the ones he posted would be great. Unfortunately the pics he posted came out a little bit small and hard to read. If anyone has a source for those Id be happy to scan and size them for this thread. |
