64 c10 fuel tank.
Hey all, any tips for cleaning out a fuel tank?
I have 2 of them. One that was in the truck has a ton of junk and crap in it. The other looks practically brand new. So obviously the better looking one is going in the truck and I'm not interested in attempting to clean the bad tank. The good looking tank is starting to show what I assume is some of the zinc from the galvanized coating to appear inside the tank. From what I can reach with my fingers it comes right off. How do I get at the stuff I cant reach? There is zero rust inside this tank and zero sediment. But I want the powdery white stuff out. Any tips? Thanks.

Re: 64 c10 fuel tank.
cleaned my original tank with a very mild acid water mix and a bunch of nuts and bolts. Filled part way and taped the spout and did the gas tank dance. Did this several times and then flushed with baking soda to return pH back to normal. I also counted the number of nuts and bolts so I made sure none were left in.

Re: 64 c10 fuel tank.
Thank you both for the suggestions. It helped remind me that I have a bottle of permatex Radiator Cleaner I got for discount a while back. It's basically hydrochloric acid. I think something like 12% by content. I think if I did a really mild dilution it should do the trick. It worked great on my heater core.
