Steering column seal at floor, 4 speed or 3 speed?

So my floor has a hole in it that would have room for the column shift and steering column to pass through (no. 1) . I am not going to run the column shift, so I don't need the hole above the column for it. In this LMC catalog they show two different seals, ok, that makes sense. But they look like they are for a round hole or an oval hole in the floor (no 1 and no 2)

I have never seen one of these trucks with a different hole than the oval one, I have owned two cabs, both of them had the oval hole. Were four speed trucks made with a different floor/firewall, I find that VERY hard to believe.

The round one doesn't have holes for the bolts, I don't understand this, any ideas? I thought there must be some metal piece that covers the hole up making it round that then this round seal went on, that makes some sense. But I don't see anything like that in the catalog and they sure have everything I have to wonder.

Brian,
So are you looking for a round hole seal that has screw holes? Filling station item SA-41. Or a oval hole seal that has no column shift hole in it?

I am thinking the oval one with out the hole for the shifter.

My floor/firewall has the oval hole.

Re: Steering column seal at floor, 4 speed or 3 speed?

I had to go out to my rig to see and sure enough, column shifter boot, down there. Looks like I originally sealed up the shifter hole and called it a day. I cannot find one online for a floor shifter in a oval hole.

I'll be damn, so it just had some dumb dumb (stripe caulk) or something in the hole?

I'm good with something like that, not a big deal but it just caught me off guard.

Re: Steering column seal at floor, 4 speed or 3 speed?

Maybe a 67-72 seal? Hopefully someone will chime in with an answer.

Re: Steering column seal at floor, 4 speed or 3 speed?

I see this one does have the holes for the screws, I have to think that one at LMC does too and the drawing just doesn't have them. But I swear the hole in the firewall looks like it would go up higher than this seal. I need to look at it again tonight.

Is that retainer over it like in the image I posted in the first post metal? As I remember it's metal. If that's the case I will just weld that hole up.

Re: Steering column seal at floor, 4 speed or 3 speed?

On my 1950 four speed the hole in cab floor is oval. the seal retainer is metal and has two holes in it ,one for column and a smaller one for shifter. I do not know how the hole was sealed from factory but the hole is in the retainer and it looks to have a rubber seal molded to the whole back side.

My cab was a 3 speed (or 4?) floor shift. Pics from the day I bought it. Oval hole.

Re: Steering column seal at floor, 4 speed or 3 speed?

Yeah, I am complicated this I think. The round one simply covers the hole a little oddly, but it covers the hole.

Thanks guys!
