Brake issues
My front brakes were locking. So I pulled it into garage. Pulled wheels and took it all apart. Rotors were too thin to turn. So I ordered new rotors, calipers and bearings. All came and I began rebuilding. Rotors fine. Bearings fine. Put on calipers. And hooked up brake lines. Passenger side hooked up. Drivers side had wrong brake line connection. Took caliper back to O'Reilly and they had no answer. They say they could re order, but 50/50 chance it would be wrong. They are all same part number. Putting pictures up to show what I have.
The first is connection I have, the second is drivers side as sent. Can i change brake hose? Do i order a new caliper? |

I have a '70 c10 with 71' disc brakes 6-5 lug conversion to front disc.
I went through and changed everything out last year. Stainless lines. Rotors etc. my passenger side has an adaptor fitting on it. I had to reuse that. I'm not sure what size that fitting is but needs to be flared adaptor. Hope this helps. Mark Try this link. Just search it. This is what I got to solve the issue.

The hose was about .125" shorter than the original so at full droop the hoses are really tight. Not a big deal since I will not be off roading the truck and will never see full droop unless it is on a lift or jacked up. I also plan on lowering it and if the drop spindles don't lower it enough I will be taking about one coil length from the springs which will reduce the travel about .5". Just be sure the bleed nipple is on the top of the caliper. |

The PO who sold it to my buddy had replaced the MC and Booster thinking that was the problem. Oh and BTW, the rear hose all that NAPA offered was either the 18.125" or the 21.125" but not the 13.875" that came with the truck so I will simply install a line clamp to the underside of the bed to take up the slack. I also removed the bleeders and two were rusted inside so they would not bleed correctly so I replaced them with Russel Speed Bleeders. Bob |
