Air Cleaner Question
So these classic chevys are new to me. I've bought a C20 from my neighbor as a project. It did not have an air cleaner so I bought a chrome Edlebrock 14 inch and 3 inch tall filter. Upon installation, the mount stud is now too short. I figured I could just buy a longer stud. I cant find one. I poked thru "air cleaner" posts thinking I bought the wrong size, but I saw a few posts where some of you did have the same size. What am I missing or doing wrong?
My truck is a 71 C20 with the 350, Edelbrock intake and edelbrock carb. I do still have that factory spacer installed. Do I remove the spacer and get the breather that connects to the cleaner? |

Re: Air Cleaner Question
1/4-20 all thread should work for you.

Re: Air Cleaner Question
Yup, 1/4-20 all thread and your problem is solved. You can also opt for a 2" thick air filter and use what you have...3" air filters are a performance filter thickness not necessary on a stock application...

Re: Air Cleaner Question
I found air cleaner studs from Jegs or Summit Racing, but threaded rod will do just fine.
If you have a real long 1/4-20 bolt, cut the hex off and thread the bottom.

Re: Air Cleaner Question
Thank you for the replies. I went and bought some threaded rod. I went to install yesterday but my cut off tool is missing. Guess I'm buying new power tools
