20 inch Wheels Fitment - Help Pls

looking for some advice.

i tried the Boyd Junkyard 20x9. Of course they don't fit right. i really like the look.

I have a current set of 15x8 with 215/70/15 for fitting. they fit good in the wheel openings but i want to upgrade to a 20 inch if possible. the backspace on the current rim is 4 inches.

the spacings are a 5x5.

The front hub length is about 2 1/16" without the grease cap. i am using the drop spindle set from Western Chassis. appears the hub length is too long. when i placed the rim on the front, the cap popped off and the rim would not fit flush on the rotor.

The rear hub bore diameter is ok but the edge of the rim extends to the outer edge of the bed fender. obviously it sticks too far out.

i was hoping someone had a setup already similar so i dont have to order a second set of rims then having to return them yet again.

Re: 20 inch Wheels

I noticed some people use 20x10 on the rears.
That means the back spacing on these should be at least 6 inches.
My 15x8 with a 4 inch back spacing barely clears but it works.
My head is hurting with this.
Any help much appreciated.

Re: 20 inch Wheels

The grease cap sticking out is super common. Many many people out there nudge that cap with a hammer and flatten it till the cap clears. My 20" Vision 143 wheels also would not sit flush on the front until I put on a 1/4" billet specialties wheel spacer. Also helps some with the cap issue.

Re: 20 inch Wheels

seems like the hub was bumping the opening in the rim too even wo the grease cap. on the back, the backspace (5 inch on the 9 inch rim) pushed it too far out. not sure if the Smoothie 2's vs the Junkyard Dogs were that different but they must be. i was worried not enough lug nut thread as well.

They were custom built american racing VN327 rallys. I needed custom back spacing for the suspension and brakes I'm running.
