Antenna question

So my new 72 has an antenna cable that lost the metal tip (that goes in back of radio) off the cable.
Is there any way to fix this properly?
Can I cut the cable, put on new tip & piece of cable from another antenna, and then solder them together??
Or is there someone I can ship it to and have them repair it.
This is a very nice antenna and I want to save it if possible.

Re: Antenna question

I'm curious how this worked out, too. I saw Astro-Balls and knew this had to be an earlier thread. R.I.P.

Re: Antenna question

It worked out fine.
I had an old antenna, cut off about 6" of cable with the tip, soldered the wire and taped it up.
Worked perfect.
