Out of the box cool ideas / upgrades.

Does anyone have any pics of any cool upgrades that they have done to their c10 they would like to share that not everyone does? Or pics they have come across that are not conventional. For example I have seen beer taps for shifter handles, gun racks on back window, beer bottles for reservoir etc. I would like to see some cool stuff. Thanks

Jim Hollister makes the vents and NSB29 makes the plenum that goes behind.

I have an old Air AC system.

Re: Out of the box cool ideas / upgrades.

I've got a few:

First is using an engine hoist to install or remove a hood. The pic is from when my dad and I were putting my new to me hood on. Got this idea from markeb01

Second is using an 80s Igloo Little Kool Rest car cooler for a cup holder, arm rest, and transportation of mom's cooking down to college.

Third is modifying the 2 barrel air cleaner base to fit my Quadrajet so my truck still appears stock. Got this idea from jhrusk, and he welded it up for me since I don't know how to weld.

Thanks. Mine is going to be a daily driver and I'm seriously considering changing over to them. I like the belts built in. I hate to lose my bench, it's nice but I have to consider living with it everyday.

Re: Out of the box cool ideas / upgrades.

My out of the box idea was I didn't want to cut up the truck for a radio so I made a plate to cover the mangled radio hole with gauges and then built a metal dash extension that holds the new radio and below the radio will go the AC controls when I get that far.

That’s really cool. I have not seen that done yet with the gauges in the center. And the extension looks custom too!

Re: Out of the box cool ideas / upgrades.

Posted a thread about this, but I cut up my factory fuel tank to be a storage holder behind my seat. Keeps stuff from rolling around. Also made 6x9 speaker mounts to fit the corners.

I like the "what if" idea. You did a great job with these.

One of my favorite ideas that I've seen for these trucks. Whenever I relocate my tank, I'll definitely do something like this as well

Hmmm, I like the 6x9 mounts. I built boxes and they are kinda bulky. Might steal your plan here.

Re: Out of the box cool ideas / upgrades.

One guy here made a mount for coffee/cup holders that mount to the seat frame in front, can't find it yet but it's pretty cool.

You can find them on Ebay and occasionally Facebook marketplace. They are a little expensive, but I've gotten good use out of it already. I'll be using it again tonight to drive up to a cruise in and carry some water bottles on ice

Here are mine. Nothing special but a few things I came up with to make it a little different without detracting from the factory look.

This an air bag display/controller that swings up behind the dash when not in use.

And finally, a throttle actuator to set the choke and prime the carburetor for my remote start. I used a standard door lock actuator located behind the glove box and a bicycle brake cable. I control it from my alarm remote aux output.
