Date night

Took the mrs to dinner for her birthday. Bragg Creek, a little town in Southern Alberta. Stopped for ice cream after. Was a good night. Oh, and our first little one is due in 2 months.

Re: Date night

No pickles. I was expecting weird food cravings, but what she is liking is:
- apples. Like $50/week of apples.
- pineapple. I think she's eating a pineapple per day.
- rice. She never liked it before.

She used to be a candy fiend. Now she can't stand candy.

I've been busy getting the nursery ready.

Re: Date night

You're going to have to trade the truck and the blazer in for a burb if you aren't careful. Those lil ones are addicting

I love burbs. As a kid I grew up with them. My parents would pack us 3 kids, plus 2 labs, plus all our summer gear for summers on a lake in the mountains. Can't have too much room with dogs + kids.

Actually, right after I found out I was gonna be a dad, I bought 2 dogs. Figured it's time to commit to being busy haha. I live in the country and there are cougars and bears around here, so I wanted 2 big dogs to help provide some protection to my to-be kid when they're out wandering around.

1/2 great Pyrenees. 1/2 Burmese mtn dog. Hopefully they'll get over 100lbs each. So far, at 5 months, they're each 50lbs, very sweet, obedient, and not hyper. They already take up a lot of room in the truck. So, yea, a suburban will be great if the mouths-to-feed keep increasing.

Re: Date night

congrats! nothing better than that pregnant mommy glow!

wish you all happy and safe delivery!

we used that interlocking alphabet matting for both of our kids, love it!

fun spelling stuff with it if you get a couple of sets together

hint hint hint C H E V Y

have to pick it all up frequently to sweep under, but much safer and cleaner than carpet..

we later added some in their play area in living room along with edge guard around fire place..

these little gems are the ticket in the kitchen and bathrooms..

the other kind just let their little fingers in far enough for them to smash them

these keep it shut and easy to use, just takes a little time to get them adjusted properly..

need just about 1/16" play so latch can swing open clear without binding..

and the magnet keys stick to the hinge screws on upper cabinets through the wood

over 7 years and only one failed closed.. only using a couple now since kids are 5 & 7

Re: Date night

You know grumpy on one hand I get what you are saying. Ill be 60 before the year is out, and our kids will be 37 and 38. Our grand kids will be 8 and 14. When our grand kids spend time here I miss the heck out of em when they have to go home. We have a few grand nieces and nephews and I love being around them too, and I feel kind of let down when its time to get back to regular life with them off with their own families.

Maybe its because I was still a "kid" when we had kids and was focusing too much on trying to figure out life myself when they were growing up. I should have kept some of the kid part of me going and enjoyed their growing up process a little more.

But back to what you were saying ... It sure is quiet and peaceful around here when all the youngsters are back at their homes lol.

Re: Date night

You spend the first 18 yrs getting them ready to leave the house and then the next 18 trying to get them to come home to visit , Yeah I get it

Re: Date night

Congratulations on the baby and hope all goes well. Good luck with the Great Byrenees Mountain Dog. I guess you could call them that? That's a beautiful mix and have no doubt they will be a great watch dog for your place. We just added a Great Pyrenees to our family to help out with that.
