Got her out for a drive

Did some yearly maintenance on the truck this morning. Power washed it and scrubbed it down good. Again left lots of chalky white water all over the driveway to cleanup. Checked all fluids and top off everything. Then took it for a nice drive into the foothills today. Came up on a nice hill and decided to take a few photo's.

Have had the truck for about eight years and it has always been very reliable and it will sit for a few months and always fire right up. The motor is really tired and will not go over 55 mph. It has old white wagon wheels on it and that just does not look right. Starting to make plans to do a build on the truck to freshen up the drive train, possibly do 4/6 drop and add some new tires and wheels. Truck still has all original paint and metal, the only item is the tailgate has a little dent in the top that can be fixed. Which wont be to bad since all the paint is worn off in the area.

Looks good! I started driving my '68 again. It feels good to get them out and drive them doesn't it.

The plan you have sounds good too. Keep us updated when you get started on it.

That’s a good looking 67 and I like the wagon wheels on your truck.

Yes it does feel good to get them out, I have had a good year to be able to get three trucks driveable. I make it a point to drive them as much as I can. Every time I do I just love it.

Re: Got her out for a drive

Looks and sounds like a really great truck. Not that you’re looking for recommendations but man that thing would look killer either stock height with steelies/white stripes/caps or lowered with black 20/22” transports.

Re: Got her out for a drive

I had my C20 out over the weekend too, it was cold and slight drizzle of rain, but just felt like driving the old girl.
only did about 80 mile round trip, for no real reason.
My wife cam along and we listened to music, talked, laughed and just enjoyed it.
I love my truck.
Found a nice old home in a small town nearby, my wife loves to take photo's, she is not great at it, but loves it just the same.

Re: Got her out for a drive

Here is a quick photoshop lowering to get the idea. I am looking into if it is possible to cut out the centers of the Artillery rims and weld in 8-lug centers. I know I could go Transit rims but just want to do something different.

Pict 1 is from yesterdays drive
Pict 2 is the quick Photoshop
Pict 3 is a photoshop I did of it a few years back, added the scallop stripes and door logo for a shop truck look
Pict 4 is a thread on Instagram where they cutout the centers on Transit rims and weld in 8-lug centers

Re: Got her out for a drive

Here is a picture of the Artillery rims I like and the wheel centers that are available. Would need to get a machine shop to cut out center then weld new center in. Then add a nice hubcap to finish it off.

Tell your wife that's a cool picture! You got a good looking truck. OP, I like picture 3.

Re: Got her out for a drive

Was thinking of going with a LM7 5.3 setup from Mars automotive. They send you a motor under 150K mounted on pallet ready to run with everything done. You can drop the fuel sending unit in a 5 gal bucket of gas and run it on the pallet. Also have the option of a mated transmission. I got a quote a few months ago for 5.3 with 4L60E transmission total was like $3500 ready to go.

Here is a picture of how they send it.
