65 to 64 front end
Hey all,
I’ve come across a front suspension end from a 65 c10 that I can get for a decent price. It’s fully powder coated and has all joints, springs, spindles and even a sway bar. A lot nicer than my factory rusty drums etc. It’s out of a 65 c10, will it fit straight into my 64 c10? Attached a pic of the unit in question. Also can get some newish rear trailing arms from the same 65, will they fit in my 64? Thanks heaps! |

Re: 65 to 64 front end
The cross-member itself will fit. I have no idea about the swap to six lug.

Re: 65 to 64 front end
Awesome thanks heaps. Yea with the front discs I just assumed I could take the 5 stud ones off and put 6 stud discs on (as the studs are part of the actual disc). I might be kidding myself though haha

Re: 65 to 64 front end
You could just change your spindles and discs out. Sell the five lug units.

Re: 65 to 64 front end
Ah so those spindles would only be for 5 lug? Can’t whack 6 lug disc on those spindles? (Sorry for the silly questions)

Re: 65 to 64 front end
I'm not saying that. I just don't know and that would be an option for you.

Re: 65 to 64 front end
Yes that entire front suspension will bolt up under your '64. Those appear to be dropped spindles. You can also just change all of the parts except for the crossmember, that way you don't have to pull your engine. Unless your engine is already out, then it would be less work to swap the entire suspension. There should be no problem changing those 5 x 5 rotors for the aftermarket 6 x 5.5 rotors. They are designed to be a direct swap for the 5 lug rotors.

Do I have to pull the engine or could I support the engine weight and undo the two bolts (one each side) and switch out the crossmember? (Sorry this is all new for me) - I have a 1978 350 in it Sorry the photo below wouldn’t rotate properly Last edited by phraza; 06-15-2019 at 12:40 AM. |

Re: 65 to 64 front end
Or you can do as I mentioned last night and just install all the new components onto your existing crossmember. It will not be fun getting to all the crossmember bolts with the engine in place.

Picked up the parts today, ended up with rear panhard, trailing arms and springs for cheap too. All early classic parts which is awesome |

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=357610 This thread gives you an idea of what it takes to swap out cross members. You won't have to drill out any holes if you are using a 65 cross member.
