New Toy ( possibly) Is it worth it??

Well I just got back from looking at a new toy, possibly a 71 but not sure.

The hood looks like a 67-68, the rear suspesion looks strange too. It is a coil suspension with what looks like a single leaf on each side, ( possibly helper leafs??) looks factory.

It is in pretty decent shape I thought. THe floor is better than my 69, just starting to show little holes in the corners on the floor and side kick panel. 3 out of 4 cab supports have sectiosn rusted out but what is remaining is solid, so I have something to work with. 1 rocker panel for sure and one cab corner for sure. the vents on the kick panels are solid also, not like mine.

I will let the pics describe the rest. He is asking 1200$ that is including the rebuilt tranny, msd ignition and carb. It also has dual supertrap mufflers.

and now for the pics.

Box seems pretty solid, and the supports look pretty good too, my 69 doesn't have any supports left to it.

I think you get the idea by now. I do have a few more pics but just of the rocker adn cab corner.

The truck ran before it was parked 2 years ago. It didn't have a good battery in it so I could not crank it over.

He is giving me first dibs on it. If I don't want it it is going to get parked at the road next week.

68 GMC front clip, the hoods did follow with the years but 69-72 GMC has a chrome thing at the bottem to reach the grill, because all GMC used 67/8 fenders

Well, it looks like the firewall and interior are Ochre in color, which i have never seen on a truck besides 70-72 models....don't think it came before that.

If it has disc brakes, 5-lug wheels, and a suspended gas pedal (not the floor mounted gas pedal) it is a '71-'72 truck. I can tell you it isn't a '72 becasue it has 67-71 doors on it, and the rear mirror is mounted on the cab roof.
So my guess is that is is a '70 or '71 truck with a '68 front clip on it.
If it runs and drives good $1200 is an OK price

I kinda like the thought of having a 67-68 hood. My plans would be to have a truck that spanned from 67-72 somehow so I could cover all the years.

I am pretty sure GMC did follow Chevy for the slope of the hood since my 69 isn't as sloped as that one. On the hood there are the holes from the hood emblems too.

It does have 5 bolt wheels, does have PS and PB, the gas pedal I don't really remember since I wanted an overall idea of the truck. Originally it was 1200$ minus the msd and the carb since it was installed about 2 years ago before the drive to Ontario, but the guy who has it on his property said to just take the whole thing.

Before I forget that is 1200$ CAD wich works out to about 925$ US with the current exchange rate wich is pretty good for us right now, the dollar is quite high.

One question I have though is would my 69 fenders fit that front clip that is on there??

If your 69 fenders are from a GMC, yes they will fit.
