Is this Hickey?
This bumper came on my 72 Jimmy that we bought from the original owner. The bumper was installed when the truck was new. He had a tow bar on it and pulled it behind his motorhome. We got the original bumper with it that was wrapped in 1972 newspaper. A cool story to say the least. The cable looks like it has never been off of the winch, but the bottom of the 12V motor has rusted from sitting.
Any input would be appreciated |

Re: Is this Hickey?
Definitely not a Hickey but an old Ramsey (period correct). Maybe dealer installed too.

The company is still around and started 1944. Here's some history on the company. http://www.ramsey.com/why-ramsey-2/company-history/

Re: Is this Hickey?
Ramsey is the leader in winch mfg. ans has been since the beginning. we have used ramsey winches on our towing and recovery vehicles for ever.
I dont thi k the bumper was manufactured by ramsey, could be wrong, but have not found info leading that way. |

Re: Is this Hickey?
I think that is a Ramsey bumper. I've always preferred Ramsey to the much more popular Warns. I never liked how Warns stood tall and like the Ramseys laid down configuration. Plus they were the most used in commercial applications. The GM parts books list them. I've never searched my parts book, but I remember when the dealers used the books seeing the winch listed. Their bumpers were wider with a continuous arc like this one. I always liked the Warn bumpers better for looks.

Re: Is this Hickey?
Here is my Hickey as bought (It is rebuilt now but no pictures...!) Ramsey made them for Hickey, Desert Dynamics and Thor. These fit between the frame rails behind the front bumper. I have seen cut outs made behind the front license plate for a fairlead and hook, and then add a spring loaded hinge set up for the plate. I can't see the motor on yours but it looks like it is mounted on the end. Got any more pictures?

Re: Is this Hickey?
I always found it curious that the Thor, Desert Dynamics and Hickey are rated 9000 lbs and they are all nomenclature T-200 but the DC-200 is 8000 lbs and the DC-300 is 9000 lbs.
I am really beginning to believe all the "T"-200 nomenclature winches are made by Tulsa. But who knows. i have many theories, but no facts. Glad you got the winch running! j

Re: Is this Hickey?
So, let me beat this like a dead horse. The pic below is a thor T100 pto . Check out these pics. A pto thor t-100 rated 8000 lbs. And literature that shows the T-200 electric at 8000 lbs and it's in conflict with some of the Thor and Desert Dynamics literature I've seen for the T-200 winces. Kind of funny that it's probably a literature miss print in that the Desert Dynamics literature you show, it should maybe read 8000 lbs.

Re: Is this Hickey?
They are worth what ever someone will pay for them. I wanted this original optional winch so I bought it. I also like and bought a Warn 8274.
