What is the correct oil sending unit?
I updated my 74 with the harness out of 78. The oil sender plug looks like it has two prongs vs the oil sender which only has one. What oil sending unit would be correct for me to use with a two prongs connection?

Re: What is the correct oil sending unit?
The one for the gauge has a single tab on it, BUT make sure you get one for the gauge and not the idiot lite version, both have a single tab. The dual tab one is used to transfer 12V to the electric choke when there is oil pressure and also causes the choke light to come on when there is low oil pressure.
This is mine on a 6 cylinder, but it is the same on a V8. I don't have any from my old truck with V8 because we eliminated the 2-prong one and ran our own 12V for the Carb choke.

So what should I do with the two prong.connection on the harness? Do I simply cut it off and put on a spade connection? Or is there a specific prong hole I should use? My 74 still has a manual choke

Re: What is the correct oil sending unit?
There should be a tan wire for the oil pressure sensor, if your harness came from one for a gauge. A dark blue and pinkish wire is probably going to that 2 prong one, which neither are for the gauge. I have not had a truck with warning lights only panel, so I don't know if the tan wire is in all harnesses or not.

Yup I have a tan wire. So just clip that one and put the correct end on?
