Re: Steering video...need thoughts
is your frame broke around the steering box?

Re: Steering video...need thoughts
I've never been a fan of silent films but I think Mongo might be on to something. The pitman arm looks like its moving more vertically than it should.
edit: is there a suspension lift? It doesn't look like you're using a raised steering arm

Re: Steering video...need thoughts
sorry fo my lack of response, I kept meaning to write a little more and have just been busy. This video is from my 1972 k10 suburban with a 4" suspension lift...ORD custom springs x 4. It wanders and has some significant bump and roll steer. I have been working through the best way to fix it and noticed that when I steer, it lifts up the entire drivers side then settles. I am not sure if that is a result of poor steering geometry but it makes the most sense to me. Sorry for the short video and I am not sure why it is silent. I do not have a drop pitman arm but one arrived today, as well as new drag link ends. I am hoping that can help. I have inspected the frame extremely close and I cannot find any cracks anywhere in the front on either side. I also have new bushings installed for both the front and rear springs. Soft suspension but I feel like that should not make it so poor on the road. I am also looking into a front and possibly rear sway bar setup. Been reading a lot on this site and the k5 site.

Re: Steering video...need thoughts
Not a good angle with your video....pull the tire off the drivers side,,,leave the passenger side on the ground ...set the camera up rigid and pointing at the steering box, and then video it turning lock2lock...
From your video it looks like the steering box is moving,,,but it may be you camera moving

Re: Steering video...need thoughts
And the drag link should be moving in a horizontal plane or you'll have bump steer and wandering.
You need a dropped pitman arm or a raised steering arm

Re: Steering video...need thoughts
I agree. No steering correction with 4" springs is the issue. The drag link should be parallel to the ground. A raised arm on the knuckle should level it right out.
Since you got ORD springs, you could call them to confirm what they advise for steering correction with stock steering. I'm betting the arm is what they call for. That is besides moving to cross over steering.

Re: Steering video...need thoughts
stephen from offroad design did a huge typed up article over on ck5.com last year or so on drag link and how to set it up correctly .
basically it boils down to NOT level but tilted to the rear just a little bit is the best option . here is a link to the article and discussion . https://ck5.com/forums/threads/stock...-think.329820/
