Clean & prep is the key. I clean the parts with Dawn & hot water. Then I use the SEM Soap with the scour pad. The SEM soap is the little blue bottle. Then use the appropriate Prep, wether it’s vinyl or plastic. Then the Adhesive Promoter. While that is still wet on the parts, lay down the first light coat of dye. Let that dry and then follow with additional coats, dry time in between.
If your dyeing the same color as the parts, it will only take a few coats. But if your changing the color of the parts, it will take a lot more dye to cover completely.

Have you ever re textured any trim pieces? If so what kind of texture did you use?

Not yet, but I have a few pieces that I think need that done to them. I will post it up, as soon as I try it out.

Looking forward to it. I've seen a few companies that make the spray on texture but haven't seen many results.

Did more parts today. 84-87 Grille, more seat parts and got the visors back together. I take the little stainless steel pieces off for the dyeing, then I polish them up before putting them back on the visors.

Yes, those all look new! What color do you use for the grills? I have a '77 grill that is quite faded and could use a refresh. I can't tell if it was a light light gray or a silver originally.

Argent silver is the correct color.

Which SEM paint color did you use for charcoal interior? I dont see that option in there colors was it just black?

I don’t use SEM anymore. They have discontinued so many of our colors for our trucks. And the colors they do have, you have to guess which one will match. So several years ago, I started using the dye from USA1 Industries. They have all the correct colors, even the hard to find colors. If you look up in the post #4, I use all those SEM products for the prep. Last bottle is the Dye from USA1 Industries, and the color I used, is Charcoal. You can get every one of these colors from them.
