Rear lowering spring question

I have seen a few posts about truck springs not working well in Suburbans.. Does anyone have experience on what works?

I had started to install air ride on my Suburban but I am trying to be more realistic with my budget so I want to do a static drop and I was thinking a 3/5 drop. It already has 2.5 drop spindles.

I also plan to tow my vintage campers with the Suburban so I would be adding air helpers if I go with the static drop.

I appreciate any opinions on this, Thanks

I had truck drop coils on the rear of my 61' and they were overstressed it seems. I'm guessing the weight of the suburban roof and side glass etc., added an extra bit too much.

I went back to stock springs and 2" blocks and stock replacement shocks as well. It rode a lot smoother too. I have the torsion bars in front so I just adjusted them down. Tires are 30" tall Yokohama skinnies for that stock look.

I never tow anything, but I did use to haul around some band PA equipment.

I ran into this problem with my panel. I had bought the CPP HD 4" dropped springs (that are supposed to be for burbs/panels) and let me tell you, I got about 6" of drop. Not happy about that.

I talked to Early Classic Enterprise as their springs are actually rated for 1/2 ton and not light weight crap like CPP. They told me to use 1" LESS drop than I actually wanted, since the extra weight would compress them about an 1". Since I wanted a 4" drop, I ordered 3" springs. Let me tell you, they nailed it.

Here's a couple pics, without exhaust is CPP, with is ECE. Full pic is with the 3.5"/4" drop.

I appreciate the information and pics from both of you. I think I will call ECE and see what they recommend. It might be best to just leave the air bags in until I get close to being done. That way when I install the springs I will see the actual height.

It’s always difficult to know what area to focus on first with a project that needs everything.

With ECE now gone, have people found another lowering spring they are happy with? I'd like ~4" of drop total in the back. Don't mind if I have to combo blocks with springs, but I'd like to find a spring people are happy with.

Also considering bags, but would rather avoid the cost.

It looks like most people are using the 4" HD springs when lowering a Suburban.

I haven't seen much feedback on these. Not sure if there's any other option. I will likely add some type of adjustable shock as well.

Initially I was going to do air ride, I bought bags and brackets for the front and rear. After pricing all the air management stuff I decided to go with drop springs instead.

Unfortunately it will be 1-2 years before my Suburban is on the road, so I have no actual experience with these springs.
