What is the difference between a Custom Deluxe and Cheyenne model in a '72 truck?
What is the difference between a Custom Deluxe and Cheyenne model in a '72 truck?
Are they the same? Which model is more limited in production? Where can I find info about this type of custom model on the net? Do you have any pictures of either model? Thanks! |

Custom delux is the base model in 72, while the Cheyenne is the top of the line. (Actually, just a little from the top)
It is nothing more than a hand full of small options...mostly being chrome trim on everything. |

Custom Deluxe was the base in 72? so no C10/20's or plain Custom's?

I'm looking at my factory 72 brochure right now.
They went from cheapest to best---- Custom Custom Deluxe Cheyenne Cheyenne Super I can post more details from the brochure if anybody wants them. There is a pretty good set of descriptions of each different model.

Does the custom deluxe come with a two tone factory paint job? The one I'm interested in had an original orange and white paint job. It has ac, ps, pb, auto, and 350 engine. Thanks for the info. |

Post 1 of 4---The CUSTOM
We call our standard interior the custom because it is. An expansive three man seat is thickly padded with foam. And covered with supple vinyl in your choice of black, blue, green, or parchment. Molded door trim panels with integral armrests repeat the seat-trim pattern and color. The vinyl covered instrument panel pad and low profile steering wheel are color keyed. You even get bright metal hardware.
Exterior- front and rear side marker lights and reflectors. Chrome plated rearview mirrors. Series nameplates. Painted hubcaps. Painted front bumper |

Post 4 of 4--The Cheyenne Super
Chevy's totally tough pickup is also one of the handsomest, when you order Cheyenne Super equipment. The full depth bench seat is foam cushioned, a full 7" thick, and upholstered with houndstooth patterned nylon cloth and supple vinyl in parchment, blue, or olive. If you prefer, order bucket seats and center console. Same colors.
Full gauge instrumentation is set in a simulated wood grain panel. Door panels and glove box door have wood grain trim, too. There's padded carpeting underfoot; an acoustical headliner; and special insulation. Exterior- All items included in the Cheyenne, Custom Deluxe, and Custom trims, plus: stainless steel upper body side moldings with black paint trim on fleetside; chrome hubcaps and bright Cheyenne Super nameplates.

Mine is the Cheyenne, but also has CST listed on the option sheet. This must be why it had the upper trim.

The CST was the name for Cheyenne in 70 and older. It is the same option package. Your upper trim was never included in any option package...only avalable under it's own option code.
If no one beats me to it...I'll list the complete option list for each package in question....but y'll will have to wait untill tonight. |

So, in 72 what would a top of the line sub be? A custom deluxe? And just for kicks, my wifes truck is a c-10, but short box, two tone paint (white and hugger orange) and ordered with upper and lower chrome (not woodgrain) So my guess is you could order any option on any truck?

Longhorn man, I thot CST package ended with '70 too? On my '72 glove box sheet I have option #"Z84-custom sport truck". My vin #'s and other options match, so I figure this is the original glove box. What's the scoop?

Many trucks continued to get the CST written in the box...interestingly, some one on here posted a pic of a 72 blazer's glove box, that said cheyenna....but blazers were never badged as cheyennes..they were all CSTs!

What is the "special insulation" they're talking about?
HG BTW, my 71 Custom Deluxe had the lower side trim along with painted bumpers. They really did mix and match options.
