72 C20 with Z28 Steering Wheel

Does anyone know what parts are needed to make a 78-81 Z 28 Wheel work on a C20? The PO installed the wheel but never got the signals to cancel or horn to work. Really love the size and look of the wheel so don't want to change to an aftermarket wheel if I can make this one work right.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thumbs up Re: 72 C20 with Z28 Steering Wheel

Need pictures of it and the inside of it to determine pieces needed.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 72 C20 with Z28 Steering Wheel

Sounds like it's just missing the cancelling cam which also connects to the horn wiring.

I ran a '74 Camaro wheel in my Jimmy for 15 years or so. It's pretty much just like the Z/28 wheel without the fake "leather grain".

Should work fine with the stock cancelling cam. Love keeping all GM parts.

I have a 88-92 GMC truck wheel in the Jimmy now which is similar to the Camaro wheel but an inch bigger diameter I think. Did the same for my kids Jimmy project as well.

Re: 72 C20 with Z28 Steering Wheel

I've used the 70-81 'Camaro' steering wheels in 67-72's w/no issues. You just need the horn parts & everything should work fine. I've used these wheels in my 68's, my 74, & have one in my 89 dually now.

I recently got a stock/correct steering wheel for the dually so the 'Camaro' wheel will now move on to another vehicle (a 78).
