Correct installation of inner fender brace?
Not sure which way this brace is supposed to be installed. The impressions in the paint suggest that the larger edge was facing up. But this causes the alternator cable to run directly across it, which doesn't make sense. Unless, of course, the alternator cable is routed incorrectly... The brace doesn't fit as well if it's flipped over.
The alternator cable has a anchor pin that goes nicely in a hole in the inner fender (just off of picture left). There's a hole in the frame that it might could be moved to, but then the cable has a lot of excess between the anchor and the alternator. I didn't take it apart, so not sure how it's supposed to go back together correctly. Unfortunately, in either case, the aftermarket inner fender bolt holes don't line up with the brace, so there's going to have to be a little rework done.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
The way you have it now is how mine was when I took it apart. You have to align the last two holes with a punch to pull the inner fender into shape to fit the bracket. Don't know about the electrical wire, I had no issues but my alternator is now a one wire.

This is how mine will go back once I finish the build. '72 C20. Hope it helps.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
Glad it helped. Wished I was putting that part back in. It's going to be awhile. This is where we're at in the build.

Can you post a higher res picture of that engine stand. I want to make one and it looks nice and simple. Where does it attach to the block?

You can get them at Jegs or Summit. They're engine cradles. They're between $30 and $70.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
Yes, but I have scrap metal tubing in the shop and a welder so easy enough to make. I am sure I can figure it out but be nice to see one done.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
To the engine mount holes in the front, and two or four of the bellhousing holes. If you google for 'engine cradle' and switch to the images tabs, there are thousands of images showing cradles with and without engines in them, in very high resolution.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
Peppertree...can you give me the dimensions on your 2 x 4 stands you have under your tires? I need to build a set of these. Thanks

Decent instructions. Don't make them so tall you can't get them under your wheels with your floor jack. My floor jack as 12" of lift, IIRC. You've got to account how far your suspension drops when you jack the frame up, and make them short enough to get under the tire.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
That is interesting. I wonder if people make dollies with that same method, by just adding casters. How many pound capacity would be appropriate for choosing casters do you think? Or is attempting something like that unsafe?

2X4's and deck screws, for all your lifting and moving needs. The DANA 60 is around 500 lbs. and when you're a one man shop you get creative.

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
How'd you get it high enough to get the wheel cradles and the jackstands under it?

Re: Correct installation of inner fender brace?
Lift with floor jack and put 4X4 under tires. Lower and then add 4X6 on top of floor jack and lift again.
