How often to Service a QJet carb from the 80's on a 307
Hey Guys,
In the summer time I serviced my carb - QJet from 80's Camaro - with full clean and it was adjusted as well to run more smoothly. I already put on it about 2000 miles, my question is how often should I service/clean my carb. And I only use non ethanol gas at 91 octane. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by service. If it ain't broke don't touch it.

If it gets a little cruddy on the outside, just spritz it with carb cleaner. Check the throttle plates for dirt and clean as necessary- again just a spritz of carb cleaner. That would be at tune-up time. You might need to adjust the choke for warmer or colder weather, but other than that you shouldn't have to do anything for a long time.

Quadrajets will run trouble-free for tens of thousands of miles. If it's working well, you can stop worrying about it for a very long time.

If your carb act funny get the engine warmed up a bit so it idles normal.
Bring rpm up to about 4000, and put your hand over the carb. The vacuum draws a lot of the garbage out of the carb that clogs it. I used to do this practically everytime I popped the hood on my carburetored cars. If you store the car add stability to the fuel, and start every month to get it moving. |

Thank you all for your suggestions and recommendations. Its running perfect now and I love that after sitting for a month of not starting it starts right up, before(cleaning and servicing the carb) I had to crank it for awhile to get it going after sitting in hibernation.
