71 Rear mirrior
I picked this mirror up a few weeks ago and just got it installed tonight. I took the old GM mirror out and installed this Nissan mirror.
This mirror has compass, outside temperature and 3 garage door buttons. Plus it's auto dimming to. I can go to my dad's and program his garage door to it. You can also program it to do other functions also like turn on lights and unlock/lock doors if you the features in your house. I also took some pictures of all 4 trucks together before it got dark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0y-Fa7-qfw

Re: 71 Rear mirrior
Thanks, yes it is. I like the Home-link stuff but the old one in the ash tray just wasn't working good enough. It didn't have any range on it because of it inside the dash. I hoping the mirror will give me time to hit the button and just drive right in without waiting for it to open.

Pretty simple install though. 12 v hot when key is on for the compass & temperature. 12 v constant for the Home-Link if you want it to operate when the vehicle is off. Are as I did just hooked it to the 12 v key on. Ground wire. The other 2 wires are for the temp probe. Doesn't matter which way you hook them up. To wire it in. You need 12 volts acc, ground and temperature probe and wires. 12 volts go to both the orange and black/red wires. Orange is for the C/T read out. Black/Red is for the Home link. Black is ground. If your vehicle has a 12 volt constant you can hook the B/R wire to it and it will work anytime. Mine doesn’t have a constant 12 volts. Temp Sensor: Blue & Brown wires go to sensor out in the grille area. They can be hooked up either way. You will need to extend the probe wires. To program the home link. Have the car on. Push the two outer buttons together and hold until the light flashes. This clears all old codes. Your done. Next: Have garage door opener less than 3” away from mirror and push both buttons together to learn it. The light will start blinking fast when it’s done. Try the button on the mirror to see if the door opens if so your done nothing else to do. If not keep reading. Next: Find the learn button on the garage door opener and push it. Go back to the mirror and push the same button as before. It should work and now your done that’s it. Quote:

Re: 71 Rear mirrior
I ran them up the rubber of the windshield. I used inner com wires that I got from work. You can't even see them until you look close at the mirror where I tied them into the factory pig tail.
