Track Bar question

I plan to do a 2/4 drop on my 70 short bed C10. Do I need an adjustable track bar with the 4 inch rear drop? I assume so but wanted to check for sure. Also, what is the lowest you can go before having to C Notch the frame. My new spindles in front are 2.5 drop and I am hoping a 4 rear drop will get it fairly level.

Re: Track Bar question

I've seen conflicting thoughts on the 4" drop and track bar but I went ahead and bought an adjustable unit when I did my 4" drop. Sort of figured another $100 added to the cost of reworking all the suspension and brakes wasn't really that much.

Shock relocate brackets too! Not sure if the adjustable panhard bar is required but I also used one for my 2/4 drop.

Re: Track Bar question

To answer your question after you get the truck lowered measure the rear end to the frame to see how far the rear end is off set from the center of the frame. (I would not rely on measurements to the body too many ways for it to be incorrect) The adjustable track bar is used to correct this problem. If you rear end is centered still then you won't need it.
Scroll to post 511 on the link and you can read my posts on installing a track bar and centering it.

Re: Track Bar question

Just remember to measure from the inside of the tires to the frame on each side to get your adjustments.

The "pumpkin" of the differential is offset, so measuring from the center of the yoke "does not compute".
